Spring into Summer Exhibition at Gallery Plus
Time:
10:00
Location:
Gallery Plus, Wells-next-the-sea, North Norfolk Coast
 |
The Gallery Plus Spring into Summer exhibition offers a great selection of two- and three-dimensional artwork by well-established and new artists from around the UK.
New for this season are hand-carved sculptural vessels by Maria Wojdat, who examines how the pounding and grinding action of the pestle and mortar reacts with the qualities of solid wet clay to create a form. By allowing the material to find its own shape, she explores the balance between spontaneity and control, the organic and the geometric, and the relationships between line, form and colour. She investigates a warm, vibrant and joyful palette that continues to evolve to echo the nature of the forms.
Other gallery work includes: Arctic-inspired glass blocks by Eleanor Long; atmospheric landscapes by Terry Bestwick; humorous hand-coloured etchings by Graham Clarke, one of Britain's most popular and best-selling printmakers; thought-provoking oil paintings by prize-winning Simon Wright; stunning architectural ceramics by London-based Zachary Eastwood-Bloom; dramatic etchings by printmaker Tim Wall; landscape lithographs by Cambridge artist Michael Papworth; plus contemporary jewellery by silversmith Karen Dell'Armi.
Gallery Plus also offers the permanent open-studio of popular local artist Trevor Woods; currently featuring original Norfolk and London scenes in a bold, graphic style, plus limited-edition prints.
Next to Big Blue Sky on the North Norfolk Coast Road.
Opening Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm (Sun 11am-4pm)

Norfolk Brass
(formerly Matthews Norfolk Brass) is a registered charity and enjoys the reputation of being one of the most consistent high standard Brass bands in the East Anglian area.
The band's professional conductor is David Stowell who studied at the Royal Military School of Music and continued his career as a professional musician in the UK. He has appeared with several leading Orchestras and Brass bands including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Black Dyke Mills Band, Kennedy Swinton, Brighouse & Rastrick and the Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
Under David’s direction, the 2009 contesting season for Norfolk Brass has resulted in the band being promoted to national championship section after becoming the London and Southern counties first section champions in March this year and then going on to achieve third place in the National brass band championships of Great Britain.
The band plays various concerts primarily in and around Norfolk. Our repertoire is wide and varied and spans the popular, light classical, operatic and film music.
